What we look for in carers

All of the foster carers who use Caldecott love having children around and are dedicated to helping vulnerable children.

Foster carers do not need any formal qualifications but will ideally need to be somebody who is:

  • energetic
  • capable
  • problem solving
  • optimistic
  • fun loving

But most importantly can provide a good role model to the young people/children in their care.

To be able to respond immediately, calmly and appropriately to difficult behaviour from a young person and keep things in perspective, be resilient and determined not to give up. Most importantly of all you must have a good sense of humour.
